Wellbeing
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care is the essence of Wahroonga Adventist School's work with children. It is neither a programme not a strategy, but a belief that nourishes everything we do. Every child is visible to us; we are prepared to speak and listen, to ask and to understand.
Everyone at school is involved in Pastoral Care. From the Head of School to a class teacher, to a part-time sports coach, every member of staff is seen as a member of the Pastoral Care team. However, it is also true that every student from our youngest Year 7 student to our oldest Year 12 student, is a member of the School's Pastoral Care team.
Pastoral Care is seen in every relationship, in every interaction, every time we speak to each other, support each other, help each other out. Relationships are the key to our wellbeing - for students, staff, families, the community.
Having happy students who are known, feel cared for and valued as individuals is important to us. Once students have a circle of friends to support them and feel that they belong, they are set to go about the 'real' business of school - and learn!
Each student comes under the care of a Homeroom teacher, who oversees their allocated Homeroom class. They have daily contact with the students and look forward to working together with parents to support their child in the best way possible. Should you have any concerns, please contact your child's homeroom teacher directly and they will return your call or email at their earliest convenience.
Year 7 Camp
Year 7 Camp
The proposed date for Year 7 Camp is currently 5 - 7 March 2025.
Technology
Mobile Phones
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones must be turned off and locked in a student's locker for the entirety of the school day.
Parents/carers are asked to use the office as a method of communicating with their child during school hours. Likewise, if a student needs to contact their parents during the school day we ask them to do so via the office.
If a student is found to be using a phone during school hours, without permission, it will be confiscated for one week and the parents notified by email.
Laptops
Laptops
All Year 7 students will be issued with a laptop for use during the year. It will be windows based, with a touch screen, pen, charging cable and safe storage bag.
Laptop agreements will be sent to families digitally via Consent2Go before the start of each school year. Agreements must be completed before IT will issue the laptop to students.
Laptops must be carried in the approved safety bag or case. During rest breaks across the day, laptops must be stored and locked in the students locker. If a student wishes to use their laptop at these times for school related activities, they can do so in the library.
The costs associated with the laptop are included in the consumable fees. A new laptop is provided in Year 7 and again in Year 10. The cost of Insurance, warranty and specialty software that is preloaded on the laptop is included.

Lockers & Locks
Lockers & Locks
Each student will receive a locker to store their bag, blazer, hat and school supplies. This will be issued to students on the first day of school along with a combination lock.
We have a page on our website that holds our Year 7 Organisational Tips, including suggested locker set up and book labels. This can be found under 'Parent Information' or by clicking HERE .
The combination locks we issue to students in Year 7 are to stay with them for the duration of high school. They will keep them at the end of year when lockers are cleaned out and bring them back for the following year. Replacement locks are available from the school office at a cost of $15 each.
Entering the combination to unlock the lock can take a little practice at the start. Please see the steps below:
- STEP 1: Turn RIGHT three times. Stop at the first number.
- STEP 2: Turn LEFT one full turn passing the first number to stop at the second number.
- STEP 3: Turn RIGHT to the third number. Pull the shackle.
