Principal's Message

Principal's Message

It’s been a delightful and busy start to the 2025 school year. I have been most impressed with the enthusiastic arrival of the different year groups. I’ve enjoyed the many great interactions with students and parents. Thanks for your warmth and friendliness and making me feel so welcome. I look forward to meeting many of you at our Welcome Night for primary on February 11 and 18 February for secondary. More details and a RSVP is included in this newsletter.

Last year I took long service leave to do some travelling overseas including a trip to Turkey and joined a seven churches of Revelation tour as I’ve been teaching the book for many years, so it was a so surreal to visit the ancient sites. A highlight of my trip came one morning when I stepped onto the balcony of the hotel room to discover hot air balloons close by. Long story short, I managed to join the adventurous passengers waiting to take flight. That experience led me to realise again the importance of spontaneity and taking opportunities that come to us.

The start of 2025 provides us and our children with many opportunities: to improve what we currently do, explore experiences that we might never have done before, etc. My message to students and staff at our Convocation has been to be willing to take the opportunities that come to us: to have a go and learn or do new things – which speaks to the idea of curiosity, to connect with others – building positive relationships with others, especially those we don’t know, and to be kind because ‘people don’t care how much you know, but how much you care.’ So what opportunities lie before you and your child/ren this year? How can you intentionally plan for these?

Welcome back to another year of learning, connecting and showing kindness. I want to encourage you as parents to live out these qualities before your kids because they learn best by observing us adults walking the talk, not just through empty platitudes. It’s a new year, look ‘outside your balcony’ and see what opportunities our Amazing God has in store for you and your family in 2025. James 1:17 reminds us that ‘every good and perfect gift comes from above from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows.’ Praise God for His abundant provision, protection and promises!

Convocation Chapel

Convocation Chapel

Today, our school community came together for a heartfelt convocation chapel, uniting both primary and high school students in a spirit of gratitude and reflection. The event was a beautiful opportunity to dedicate our teachers, students, and the entire community in prayer.

As we gathered in the chapel, the atmosphere was filled with hope and positivity. Our teachers were honoured for their dedication and commitment to nurturing our students, while our students were uplifted in prayer for a successful and fulfilling school year ahead. Additionally, we took a moment to dedicate our community, recognizing the vital role it plays in supporting our school environment.

This convocation chapel served as a powerful reminder of the strength of our community and the importance of coming together in faith. We look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and shared experiences. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a memorable one!

Farewell to Mrs Els

Farewell to Mrs Els

Today we farewell Mrs Els, she has been such a big part of Wahroonga Adventist School, and we wish her all the best in her retirement.

It's been such an honour and privilege to have someone like Mrs Els as a member of our staff, as she is an exemplary teacher and a woman of God. She has given this school so many blessings in its changing seasons, and she will be dearly missed.

She always taught her kindies the 'golden rule' and how to be the gold for others as well as doing things with a 'happy heart'.
