Principals message
Today is World Teachers Day and I take my hat off to our teachers and school staff for their dedication to our students and choosing to make a difference in the lives of young people. Teaching and connecting with students are unique gifts and we are privileged to have staff who have a heart for the holistic learning of our children.
During the school holidays I had the privilege of accompanying 29 Year 11 students and 5 staff to a remote school in Fiji where they served through renovations, classroom and community visits. More importantly they connected with local students who have so little, but still find joy in life. As one of our Year 11 students, Abigail, said, ‘I thought I was going to Fiji to serve them, but it turns out they changed my life, in every sense, for the better. One of the most important lessons I’ve taken with me is that complaining and worrying isn’t going to get me anywhere. Being grateful, cherishing every moment, is what makes me feel whole.’ What a powerful lesson!
On a personal note, I am humbled by your support and understanding about stepping aside next year to support family. The compassion you have shown me speaks volumes to the authenticity in our community. Thank you. I am so grateful for you.

Fiji Mission Trip: A Journey of Service and Adventure
Fiji Mission Trip: A Journey of Service and Adventure
This year, a group of 29 students from Wahroonga embarked on an incredible mission trip to Vatuvonu Adventist School in Fiji. The trip was a blend of hard work, service, and unforgettable experiences.
Our students took on several projects, including painting the primary office and completing the renovation of the kitchen storeroom. These efforts have greatly improved the facilities for the students and staff at Vatuvonu.
A highlight of the trip was the adventure day, where we took 50 boarding students on an exhilarating outdoor experience. The smiles and laughter shared that day will be cherished memories for all involved.
The trip wasn't all work and no play. On our final night, we enjoyed the serenity and beauty of a private island, capping off the trip with an evening of reflection and fun.
Overall, the Fiji mission trip was a super fun, awesome adventure that left a lasting impact on both our students and the Vatuvonu community. It was an experience filled with service, learning, and a deeper understanding of the power of giving back.

'Library Bag' Podcasts
'Library Bag' Podcasts
Since Book Week last term, our Year 5 and 6 students have been working with Brenden and Suzanne Lovett to produce ‘Library Bag’ podcasts where they ask each other the all-important question – ‘So, what are you reading?’
As the final editing is now in progress, these podcasts are being gradually loaded onto the Library WebAPP and the Library Bag website. The first nine interviews have already been uploaded and can be viewed from the home page of the Library WebAPP ( bit.ly/waslibrary ). As more are loaded these podcasts will be replaced with the most recently uploaded interviews. The podcasts are stored permanently on the Library Bag website which can be accessed either by clicking the link on the home page or clicking here .
Last Week of Borrowing
Last Week of Borrowing
Borrowing will finish for all students at the end of Week 4 (November 8) allowing the library staff time to complete the annual end of year stock take. Please remind your children to bring their library bags over the next few weeks so they can take advantage of borrowing early in the term. It would be much appreciated if all books are returned promptly by the end of Week 6 (November 22).
If your child has outstanding loans or lost library books it is now time to either return these copies or provide a replacement copy of the missing book. At the end of the year a $25 per book replacement fee will be added to the students’ school accounts for all outstanding and unresolved loans.
If you are unsure of what books your child has out and when they are due back, please log on to the library WebApp at bit.ly/waslibrary and follow the instructions on the home page to access your child’s library records.

Christmas Hampers
Christmas Hampers
Last year the wholehearted giving of the school community meant that Fusion could distribute Christmas Hampers to ALL of their 150 community food program families. Looking Beyond our School Yard has led to this spirit of Christmas giving and the tradition of Christmas Hampers in term 4 each year.
Your level of support has meant that Fusion don't deplete their regular pantry stocks for the new year. Watch for the information about donating this year. Fusion have been extremely appreciative of the support provided by the Wahroonga School Community
