Greetings Parents and Caregivers

Mr StMart and I attended the Adventist Education Leadership Conference in Adelaide together with over 200 leaders from around Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific from May 13-15. The big take away was that God wants us all to flourish and invites us to know and be part of God’s Big Story. Two challenging questions for each of us to ask ourselves daily are: Who am I? What am I doing here? These speak to the issues of identity and purpose.

Who am I? should be rooted in who God says we are. According to Genesis 1:26, 27 God made humans in His image, endowed with all the amazing complex attributes and abilities that He so masterfully and graciously provided to our first parents and each human being. Unfortunately, Genesis 3 outlines the fall of humans and the rest of scripture, and our own history shows our brokenness and capacity for evil. But the Good News is that God has redeemed us in Jesus Christ and now invites us to be part of His restoration story, which relates to What am I doing here? 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 reminds us that born again Christians are new creatures in Christ and invited to be ‘ambassadors of reconciliation’ because Jesus ‘who knew no sin became sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God’. Wow, what a privilege and what a calling!

These two key questions are being addressed at Wahroonga Adventist School via our wholistic approach to education and our unique focus on the spiritual dimension. Daily worships and prayer, Bible classes, our weekly chapels and our upcoming Week of Worship (secondary: Term 2 week 5, primary: Term 3, week 6), and service opportunities are designed to remind and invite us into becoming and being part of God’s big story.

As you will see in this newsletter there are so many curricular and co-curricular experiences that allow students to discover and expand their God-given gifts and abilities, from sport to academic to performing arts. Thank you for your entrusting us with the most precious calling to raise up the next generation to understand their identity and purpose in life and be able to answer two vital questions in life: Who am I? What am I doing here?

Please take the time to complete the 2025 School Improvement Survey that was sent to your email to help us know how we’re going and how we can improve. Thank you.

God bless,

Craig Young

Week of Worship - Revival

Week of Worship - Revival

Get ready for an unforgettable High School Week of Worship in Week 5 as we dive deep into the powerful theme “Revival.” This year, we’re exploring the story of Jesus going behind enemy lines —a journey of courage, sacrifice, and unstoppable love as He went to the cross for us.

We’re thrilled to welcome Pr Daniel Christie , a passionate pastor from the Gold Coast, as our guest speaker. A true “man’s man” with a heart for God. He’s also a devoted husband and father of two, and we can’t wait to hear what God has placed on his heart for our school.

But it doesn’t stop there! We’re teaming up with Fox Valley SDA Church for a special series of evening programs, running Wednesday to Friday at 6:30 PM , with a final joint celebration on Saturday at 11:00 AM . Same theme. Same preacher. One powerful message.

Let’s come together as a school and community to experience revival —to be inspired, challenged, and changed.

Don’t miss it. You are welcome. Let’s make Week 5 one to remember.

Pr Nick Kross

Year 6 Canberra Trip

Year 6 Canberra Trip

In Week 3 of Term 2, our Year 6 students embarked on an exciting three-day educational adventure to Canberra. Highlights included visits to Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the Australian War Memorial, the Royal Australian Mint, Questacon, and many other iconic institutions.

Students participated in a variety of engaging programs such as ‘People Power and Making Change’ and ‘Stories of Australian Art,’ deepening their understanding of Australian government, culture, and history.

We commend our Year 6 students for representing Wahroonga Adventist School with maturity, respect, and enthusiasm. It was truly a highlight of the year, one we are sure the students will remember for a lifetime!

Canberra Rebate:

Students from our school have undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students have been given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Stage 1 Chickens are Hatching!

Stage 1 Chickens are Hatching!

It’s been an egg-citing 21-day journey in Stage 1 as we’ve watched our chicken eggs develop and grow! Students have been carefully recording their observations in journals, learning all about the life cycle of a chicken. Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived—our chicks are starting to hatch!

The classroom is filled with squeals of joy as tiny beaks break through their shells. We can’t wait to hold our fluffy new friends next week!

A big thank you to Pr. Daron for making this incredible experience possible.

Year 2's Fairy Bread Adventure!

Year 2's Fairy Bread Adventure!

Our Year 2 students have been busy learning how to write procedures. This week, they tackled a fun and delicious task: writing a step-by-step guide on how to make fairy bread!

After carefully crafting their procedures, the students had the chance to put their writing to the test by following their own instructions to make their very own fairy bread. It was a delightful experience filled with creativity, teamwork, and, of course, lots of colourful sprinkles!

Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Camp

Year 8 students had an unforgettable experience at Cru Camp Lake Macquarie. Students spent one night in cozy cabins and another sleeping in tents of two! They challenged themselves with rock climbing, sailed across the lake, and worked together to build rafts. Students also enjoyed competitive games of archery tag and took part in Christian discovery sessions, exploring their faith. The Year 8s recounted it was a perfect blend of adventure, teamwork, and reflection, leaving everyone with great memories!

Year 11 Biology Rocky Shore Ecosystems

Year 11 Biology Rocky Shore Ecosystems

Our Year 11 Biology students recently embarked on a field excursion to Fairlight Beach to explore the intricate interactions that shape rocky shore ecosystems.

This hands-on experience forms the foundation of their independent depth study , a key assessment task that allows students to design and carry out their own scientific investigations. Guided by expert instructors from Auseco, students observed a range of marine organisms in their natural habitat and were introduced to ecological fieldwork methods, including quadrat sampling, transects, and abiotic testing.

Through this excursion, students not only deepened their understanding of ecological concepts but also developed key scientific skills such as hypothesis testing, data analysis, and scientific reporting. Although the weather was a little rainy our students completed all research activities to the best of their abilities.

We look forward to seeing the innovative and thoughtful investigations our biologists will present!

Congratulations to The Shore School Team 4 who were the winning team on the day.

Wahroonga Adventist School Team 1, made up of Noah D, Zara N, Arjun D and Alex Y, came equal 5th with an impressive score of 70 out of 100, and our Year 5 team, made up of Lucy N, Evie B, Sierra B and Madeleine G, also topped the last category winning each student a book prize. National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday, May 21, Wahroonga Adventist School students from Prep to Year 6, along with 2,204,658 other students from around Australia and New Zealand, tuned in at 12 pm to celebrate the book ‘The Truck Cat’ by Deborah Frenkel during the National Simultaneous Storytime. With the weather not on our side, we ended up having two simultaneous viewings: one at Fox Valley Community Centre and the other in the Prep classroom for our junior classes. Fortunately, the weather didn’t dampen the students’ enthusiasm for enjoying the reading of the story by author Deborah Frenkel and watching illustrator Danny Snell draw Tinka the cat whilst giving some top illustrating tips. After the broadcast the P-2 classes enjoyed a craft activity, whilst the Year 3-4 classes rotated between a hunt and find activity on the deck, jigsaws in the Opal Room and word games in the foyer. A big thank you to the Year 5 and 6 students for helping the juniors with their craft activities, and to the Year 12 students who assisted with set-up.

Host Families Needed

Host Families Needed

Are you interested in hosting an exchange student?

We are looking to grow our host family community with families of all shapes and sizes.

It doesn’t matter if you are a single-parent family, have several children or all of your children have grown up and left home.

Anyone generous enough to open their home and heart to a new family member and be willing to embrace differences in culture and language can host.

What our host families do have in common is excitement and enthusiasm for meeting someone who speaks another language and the unique opportunity to see Australia through the eyes of their exchange student.

Our students are ready to develop their independence, self-confidence and maturity, make new friends, improve their English language skills, become part of a new family and immerse themselves in our unique Australian way of life.  In turn, hosting can provide your family with an international perspective of the world, add some fun to your family environment, improve tolerance and respect for different cultures, provide an opportunity to build lifelong relationships and enhance foreign language skills.

See our website for more information. If this sounds like something you’d like for your family, please contact Students of the World at 08 8379 5726 or [email protected] .
