From the Principal
Ever wondered how important school was in your child’s life? No doubt the answer is, ‘Yes’. A recently published longitudinal study by UNSW confirmed that teenagers’ motivation dips from Year 6 to 9 – a well-known trend. However, during this time, the link between teaching support and students’ motivation and engagement increased. To put it simply, the importance of your child’s teacher in keeping your child engaged in learning increases in those early years of high school when young people are dealing with a significant period of change.
It can be reassuring to know we are a team as we each have a significant role in every child’s development.
What can you do? Three simple strategies:
Ensure your child is getting enough sleep – this may require limiting technology use before bed
Take an active interest in what’s happening at school – ask ‘what did you learn today?’
Focus on your child’s interests and strengths – concentrate on their passions rather than their problems
Between home and school, we have shared values and there is a consistency in our aspirations for each student. Nurture for today, learning for tomorrow, character for eternity indeed!

Chaplain's Message
The Firm Foundation of Peace
The Firm Foundation of Peace
This term we are looking at what it means to have Jesus as our firm foundation. Pr. Ron challenged students that the unstable mess of the world around us can be superseded by having Jesus as that stable cornerstone. We are looking at how that stability is a pathway to peace.
When we pursue Jesus as our firm foundation, we also find peace.
Romans 8:5-6 tells us that when our motivation shifts from selfish things to a focus on spiritual realities, the Holy Spirit brings peace to our lives.
As a parent myself I know how hectic and turbulent life can get.
Our prayer for you this week is that you can find stability in life with Jesus and as a result, amongst the chaos of life, find peace.

The school theme for National Science Week this year is Species Survival - More than just sustainability .
This week our students have learnt about the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival of different species in our ever-changing world. Students were able to participate in citizen science as part of the iNaturalist bioblitz species survival challenge, where they were challenged to photograph as many species as possible in our school grounds. We had a lion roaming around our community highlighting the impact of invasive species. Our students participated in escape room challenges, visits from scientists and learned about desert plant species adaptations. We all had a wonderful and wild Science Week!

Learning About Ice Hockey - Prep
Learning About Ice Hockey - Prep
The Preps are currently learning about different sports, today we had our own Miss Phoebe come in and teach us about ice hockey. Miss Phoebe plays for the Women’s Sydney Bears ice hockey team and coaches new ice hockey players. The preps learnt the rules of the game and coloured in ice hockey players.
Thank you, Miss Phoebe, we love building connections with older students, not only building a sense of community but also role models for the preps.
