Our School Improvement Journey
Our School Improvement Journey
Thank you for your participation in the School Improvement Survey 2025. The results from last year's survey have guided our focus for 2025 across six key areas: Implementation of HITS (High Impact Teaching Strategies), Celebrating Practice, Implementing Behaviour, Student Voice, Teamwork, and School Connectedness. All staff members are in Action Teams that review and develop strategies and resources to strengthen the progress already made.
The Implementing HITS Team is embedding evidence-based teaching strategies aimed at enhancing lesson delivery, student engagement, and learning outcomes. Opportunities are provided for reflection, goal setting and participation in opportunities to enhance teacher confidence and capacity. Our leadership team conducts Learning Walks to observe instructional practices and provide feedback. The Celebrating Practice Team is collating examples that showcase staff on their journey with HITS implementation. Emphasis is also placed on providing feedback and recognition to celebrate staff progress and excellence.
The Implementing Behaviour Team is reviewing and refining our student management processes that enhance the great work already done. The Student Voice Team is gathering student feedback on factors that help them stay focused and engaged in class, as well as their subject and learning preferences. This data provides valuable insights into student perspectives, supporting our ongoing school improvement efforts based on student voice.
The Teamwork Team is collecting data on how teachers foster collegiality through reflection and open dialogue to build on progress already made. The School Connectedness Team considers the ways staff and students connect within the school environment and explores ways to further strengthen these positive relationships.
Proverbs 27:17 states, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”, captures our School Improvement Journey and our vision ‘ to be a Christ-Centred Learning Community .’ Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement, which inspires us in our Mission ‘to enable every student to flourish’.

Chaplain's Message
Week of Worship - REVIVAL
Week of Worship - REVIVAL
Last week, our school community came together for an inspiring Week of Worship, centred on the theme of courage through the story of Jesus and our call to be bold in faith. Pastor Daniel Christie joined us, sharing powerful sermons and personal stories of faith and courage speaking to the deeper journey of faith that God calls us to.
A highlight this year was our first-ever high school Week of Worship drama, which brought to life the moving story of the thieves crucified alongside Jesus. The performance, led by around 15 students and 2 teachers, alongside the rest of our student chapel team, captivated the school and sparked meaningful reflection. The week was filled with worship music, heartfelt moments, and a joyful atmosphere that we hope left everyone excited for next year’s event in 2026!
At the heart of every Week of Worship is our mission to share the hope God offers, the promise of His presence, and the invitation to grow in our faith journeys. Through the drama, music, and fellowship, we aimed to reveal the heart of God through Jesus. This year’s event was a beautiful reminder of the courage it takes to live out our faith and the joy found in doing so together.
We’re grateful for everyone who contributed to making this week a success and look forward to continuing this tradition of faith, hope, and community.

Year 1 and 2 Science Chicken Hatch
This term, our Year 1 and 2 students were thrilled to experience the wonder of life firsthand through our Chicken Hatch project! It was a joy to watch the chicks grow and hatch as part of our Science learning on lifecycles.
A huge thank you to Pr. Daron for organising and caring for our chickens so lovingly throughout the term. We’re also incredibly grateful for his inspiring weekly worships, reminding us of the beauty of God’s creation and how deeply He cares for each one of us — no matter how big or small!

Year 1 and 2 Build 'Chicken Mansions'!
Year 1 and 2 Build 'Chicken Mansions'!
This term, Year 1 and 2 students worked in small groups to design and build creative ‘Chicken Mansions’ using recycled materials . Linking to their learning about chick life cycles and animal needs , they carefully planned cozy, safe spaces for real chicks.
The highlight? Testing their designs with live chicks inside! Students were thrilled to see the chicks explore their new homes.
We’re so proud of the teamwork, creativity, and care our young designers showed. Well done, little architects!

Exploring the Great Barrier Reef - A geography Adventure
Exploring the Great Barrier Reef - A geography Adventure
Our Year 11 and 12 Geography students embarked on an unforgettable 4-day field trip to the Great Barrier Reef at the beginning of this term. The experience brought to life key syllabus concepts such as ecosystem management, sustainability, and biophysical interactions.
One of the trip’s highlights was snorkelling at both Fitzroy Island and the Outer Reef pontoon. At Fitzroy, students explored vibrant coral ecosystems and even swam alongside sea turtles. The adventure continued at the outer reef, where students participated in the Eye on the Reef citizen science project, contributing real-time coral and marine life data to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
Another highlight was contributing to coral health monitoring through the University of Queensland’s CoralWatch program. Students surveyed coral types, colouration, and bleaching evidence, collecting valuable data for long-term reef health studies. This data is used to help inform management policies to continue to protect the reef.
Beyond marine geography, students also engaged with Indigenous rangers, gaining insights into traditional and contemporary reef management practices. Our trip finished by participating in a service project, where students packed care packages for local people of Cairns facing hardship. The trip was a rich educational journey, combining immersive fieldwork, Indigenous perspectives, and hands-on environmental stewardship – a truly valuable learning experience.

KPO Concerto Competition Finalist
KPO Concerto Competition Finalist

We are thrilled to announce that Diana K. has advanced to the finals of the KPO Concerto Competition! This is a tremendous achievement, and we couldn't be prouder. She will be performing "Concertstück pour Harpe Op. 39" by Gabriel Pierné, a piece renowned for its beautiful melodies and technical challenges. This performance is a true testament to her hard work, dedication, and passion for music, and we are excited to see our student shine on such a prestigious stage.
What a significant accomplishment this is! We wish you the very best for the finals. Go out there and show them what you can do! Your school community is cheering you on!
AYO - Australian Youth Orchestra
AYO - Australian Youth Orchestra
Being selected for the Young Symphonists Program is a remarkable accomplishment. These young musicians represent the finest high school aged talent across the country. Winning a place in the program is the musical equivalent to competing as part of one of Australia's Under 18's sport team.
Over an intensive residential week of rehearsals, the 69 selected participants worked closely together on a full program of orchestral repertoire, as well as chamber music, developing their artistry and ensemble skills to an exceptional level.
We would like to congratulate our student Amelia D. We are incredibly proud of the talent and dedication shown by our young musicians and grateful for the vital role that our schools and teachers play in supporting their musical development.

Wahroonga's Senior Band Shines at Prestigious Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival
Wahroonga's Senior Band Shines at Prestigious Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival
The Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival, a cornerstone event in Sydney's musical calendar, showcases school ensembles at Pittwater High School in Mona Vale throughout June.
Wahroonga’s Senior Band, under the direction of Miss Walkden-Brown, delivered an outstanding performance that highlighted their musicality and dedication. Miss Walkden-Brown, along with Mrs Miller, has been working closely with the band, and their efforts were clearly reflected in the quality of the performance.
Established in 2012, the festival provides a non-competitive platform for school bands and orchestras to perform, receive professional feedback, and participate in on-stage workshops. Co-hosted by the Northern Beaches Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Northern Beaches Orchestra, the Northern Beaches Symphonic Youth Band, and the Northern Beaches Concert Band, the event celebrates community involvement and musical excellence.
Congratulations to all involved on a fantastic achievement!

Host Families Needed
Host Families Needed
Are you interested in hosting an exchange student?
We are looking to grow our host family community with families of all shapes and sizes.
It doesn’t matter if you are a single-parent family, have several children or all of your children have grown up and left home.
Anyone generous enough to open their home and heart to a new family member and be willing to embrace differences in culture and language can host.
What our host families do have in common is excitement and enthusiasm for meeting someone who speaks another language and the unique opportunity to see Australia through the eyes of their exchange student.
Our students are ready to develop their independence, self-confidence and maturity, make new friends, improve their English language skills, become part of a new family and immerse themselves in our unique Australian way of life. In turn, hosting can provide your family with an international perspective of the world, add some fun to your family environment, improve tolerance and respect for different cultures, provide an opportunity to build lifelong relationships and enhance foreign language skills.
See our website for more information. If this sounds like something you’d like for your family, please contact Students of the World at 08 8379 5726 or [email protected] .
